unDrift

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 18, 2026

unDrift is a Chrome extension that helps users stay focused during an active work session. This page explains what information the extension processes, how it is used, and where it is sent.

1. Information Processed

During an active work session, unDrift may process:

unDrift does not ask for a name, email address, or account registration. However, URLs, page titles, or user-entered task descriptions may sometimes contain personal information depending on how the extension is used.

2. How Information Is Used

The task description, tab title, and tab URL are used to classify whether the current page appears relevant to the user’s work session. That classification is used to decide whether to display a focus nudge in the tab.

3. Local Storage

unDrift stores the active session state and task description locally in the browser so the extension can remember whether a session is on and what the user is working on.

unDrift does not intentionally store a persistent browsing history in the extension. Some tab metadata may be kept temporarily in memory while a session is active in order to debounce and manage classification requests.

4. Server and Third-Party Processing

To classify relevance, unDrift sends the current tab title, current tab URL, and user-provided task description to the unDrift backend. The backend then sends that information to the OpenAI API to generate a classification result.

5. When Processing Happens

Monitoring and classification occur only while the user has explicitly started a session. When no session is active, unDrift does not send tab data to the backend for classification.

6. User Control

Users can start a session, update the task description, or end the session at any time through the extension popup. Ending the session stops further classification requests until a new session is started.

7. Security

The extension and backend are intended to use HTTPS when sending data over the network. No payment information or sensitive account credentials are requested by unDrift.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated to reflect product, infrastructure, or legal changes. Any updated version will be published on this page.
